On 30th September 2015, in accordance with a decree of the Rosselkhoznadzor (Russian Agricultural Supervision Authority), a decision was made to temporarily restrict fish products deliveries into Russian from Poland. In particular, the prohibition also applies to canned fish.
The restriction is caused by a refusal of Polish enterprises to undergo the Rosselkhoznadzor control measures. The authority notes that a control procedure was scheduled for the period of 26th October to 6th November 2015, but a negative answer was received from manufacturers.
It will be recalled that fresh frozen fish exports into Russia are prohibited as a result of the embargo introduced in August 2014, but the restrictions before did not apply to canned fish that are processed products.
