It became known that the Federal Customs Service for Phytosanitary and Veterinary Supervision permitted seed potatoes imports from the Netherlands. However, customs clearance of goods is only possible at the three temporary storage warehouses: in St. Petersburg, Smolensk and Bryansk Regions.
At the end of the last year, Rosselkhoznadzor (Russian Agricultural Supervision) specialists in Germany conducted an expert examination of potatoes prepared for shipment to the Russian Federation. It was decided to permit seed potatoes imports only with complete customs clearance at certain places.
Restrictions on various potato sorts were imposed in 2013. The prohibition was connected with pests discovered in products delivered from the European Union.
