From April 25, 2016, temporary restrictions on eggplant imports from Turkey have been introduced in Russia. This information is already available on the website of the Rosselkhoznadzor (Russian Agricultural Supervision Authority). The authority’s decision is connected with the receipts from Turkey of eggplant consignments infested with organisms under quarantine in Russia.
Earlier, the head of the Rosselkhoznadzor has already said that a ban on the import of all crop products from Turkey into the Russian Federation can be imposed within a month.
It will be recalled that from January 1, 2016, Russia banned the import of agricultural products, raw materials and foodstuffs from Turkey.
The list includes a number of plant and animal products. From March 17, the Rosselkhoznadzor imposed a ban on the import of pepper and pomegranate from Turkey into the Russian Federation.
