Temporary import restrictions for lettuce from Turkey introduced in Russia

From May 16, 2016, import restrictions for lettuce and crisphead lettuce from Turkey have been introduced by Rosselkhoznadzor (Russian Agricultural Supervision Authority) in Russia. The temporary restriction is related to the fact that western floral thrips which is under quarantine in Russia has been detected in Turkish lettuce. Shipments certified before May 16, however, may be eligible for import after necessary checks by regulatory authorities.

Let us just recall that, since the beginning of the year a number of products have been banned for import from Turkey to our country, specifically citrus plants, grape, apples, tomatoes, cucumbers and gherkins, poultry by-products, eggplants etc.
